The new Langside College will be funded mainly by the Scottish Funding Council and will provide a modern and dynamic learning space. The new facility will be built on the footprint of the present College on Prospecthill Road from which Langside College has served the local community for the past 60 years.
Opening onto Battlefield Road to improve access and re-enforce the inclusive ethos of the college, the new facility will comprise of a three storey main teaching block, indoor and outdoor multi-purpose sports facilities, a theatre arts and conference centre and retail units. All of which will be open to the public.
Site contractors, Balfour Beatty are now underway with Phase 1 of the construction which is expected to finish in April 2009 and will cover construction of the main teaching block. Phase 2 will run from April 2009 until April 2010 and will consist of the new sports facilities and the Theatre Arts Conference Centre. The final phase will be completed in October 2010 to provide outdoor sports facilities, car parking and landscaping.
VB Contracts are providing all the brick and block work for the new college.
